Appreciating the Rev.

The 10th month of the year is a great month.  It is National Pizza Month (a staple around the prairie parsonage), Breast Cancer Awareness Month (an issue near and dear to my heart), and National Vegetarian Awareness Month (an issue not so near and dear to my heart.  Sorry, but I married into a ranching family).  Best of all, it is Pastor Appreciation Month.
There he is... The one and only, The Rev!

Too often, I forget to appreciate my husband, not just as my husband, but also as my pastor.  Who else do I know that can whip out a Bible verse for every occassion?  Who can preach a new and deep sermon every Sunday morning?  So, Rev. this post is for you!

The Rev. comes across as an intelligent, calm, patient and personable man, which he is.  But unless you have lived with him, you may not know these little known facts about him.  He likes to hunt, read, eat, read, watch football (go Broncos!), read, drink root beer, read, and then at the end of the day he usually reads.  What does he like to read?  Pretty much anything, but since he is such a brainiac, you can find him reading deep theological books, books on pastoring and of course, ESPN.com.

Setting the example for our church's youth by leading a service project.
A little over 5 years ago, the Rev. announced that instead of being called to teach, he was called to the solo pastorate.  This did not come as a surprise to me considering the fact that he has an ability to relate well to people of all ages, preach amazing sermons, and manage a myriad of administrative responsibilities.  He was a great pastor from day one and it has been so much fun to watch him grow both professionally and personally through this journey called ministry.

Great Dad to our fun and crazy family: Just one of the many hats
the Rev. wears well.
So, Rev. your family wants you to know that not only do we think that you are a great husband, dad, and friend, but we also think you are a wonderful pastor.  Happy Pastor's Appreciation Month!
