In Pursuit of the Perfect Picture Part 2

I know that many of you have been anxiously awaiting the conclusion of the story.  Did I get a picture of Tim Tebow?  Or will this story be of questionable authenticity, much like the legend described in my last post In Pursuit of the Perfect Picture Part 1?  Ok, maybe you don't really care, but a select few of you are seriously wondering if I did get a good shot.  So, here is where the story continues.

After shaking Tebow's hand, The Rev., Miss Montana, her husband (we'll call him Boss) and I thought that we were done basking in the glory of stardom.  We thought that we would enjoy some family time for a few days.  That was until we realized that Mr. Tebow himself was staying in our hotel!   The Rev. and I concluded that either we couldn't really afford the hotel we were staying in, or Mr. Tebow has low standards.  The jury's still out on this one.

Over the course of the next day, we had several "Tebow" sightings, but I never had my camera in hand.  The Rev. and Little E were on their way to the pool (sans camera) when the elevator door opened and who was there, but Timmy himself.  Since an NFL quaterback and two other large men take up the whole elevator, The Rev. was forced to wave him along.

We (well, really just me) were determined to get the perfect shot.  Since the only other celebrity I have ever met was North Dakota's main man,  Govenor Hoeven, I knew that this picture was definately a bucket list item.  No offense to the great state of ND's former leader, but pretty much everyone has met him.

I wanted a cool story to tell at parties, a bragging point among my brothers.  But, by Wednesday morning, when Tim Tebow  was scheduled to speak in a different town that day, I had nothing.

Until, I went to the front desk to obtain a free breakfast coupon (being cheap pays).  Through a series of events and some keen celebrity stalking listening skills that Miss Montana taught me, I knew that the famous quarterback was still in the building.

The entire family waited in the lobby, but looking a bit obvious, the men and kids went to breakfast.  So, there we were, Miss MT, The Rev's Mom, KJ and I.  Then, the glass elevator decended with guess who, TIM TEBOW!  Not wanting to be a complete crazy and just snap a shot, I followed him to the front door while making polite conversation.  Then, at the last minute, I nervously mumbled something about being a pastor's wife and knowing what it is like to have your every moved watched, but can I please take your picture?  And, that is when, he turned around and drum roll please.... posed for this!

He was polite, kind and by the look on his face, ready to get away from the crazy pastor's wife from about as far away from Hollywood, the NFL and all things famous that a person can get.

Although the picture is a great reminder of one of the most fun trips I have had in a long time, it is an even better reminder of how God pursues me.  He is determined, at all costs, to have my heart.  Every nook and cranny of it.  He is more crazy for me than the high school girls we saw camped outside the room Tim Tebow was in, anxiously awaiting an autograph.  I always knew that God loved me, but it wasn't until I experienced the hotel wide Tebowmania, that I really tried to comprehend it.  We were staying in a hotel with hundreds of teenagers thanks to a youth convention taking place.  There were shrieks and shrills that could be heard throughout the hotel as Tim Tebow passed by.  At one point, I could hear which direction he was walking based on the noisy excitement that surrounded him.  More than teenage excitement for a star quarterback, God is beyond excited to have a personal relationship with his children.

Tebowmania was great to experience.  But, what is even better than that?  The mania that God has for me and you.  So, thank you Mr. Tebow, for the great picture.  But, thank you even more for the illustration of God's love for a simple gal living on the prairie doing her best to serve Him.
